Water in spare-wheel well

How might water accumulate in the front where the spare tire and jack reside. Found it yesterday. Tested the drain holes on the water channels, now wondering if a recent car wash was done with the bonnet not closed completely.
Any thoughts other than don't leave the front bonnet open

Never take it to a commercial car wash-maybe one with a hand held wand. Did the one you went to include undercarriage spray, if so that probably the gremlin.
