That is aftermarket. Do you have aftermarket driving lights? Maybe stealth radar?

No driving lights, if there was a radar detector it didn't come with the car.

Thanks

You'll have to ask the previous owner. That is an add-on. Not pretty either. Looks like a rheostat. Look for some add-on interior LED lights or something that can be dimmed.

Do you have an aftermarket radio? Could control the bass.

that is the auto seat ejector...be careful

but on a serious note it could be a bass/sub **** if you have an aftermarket sound system. Not the area I would have put it but you never know. Pull down the dash and follow the wires.

Looks like a control for a stealth radar detector installation. Are you sure you don't have a radar detector in the car? You can tell if you have a sensor in the front grill somewhere and if you find any aftermarket lights/indicators in the gauge cluster or somewhere else on the dash.

Looks like a dimmer or trim adjustment for subs/stereo, when you twist it does anything happen?

Actually, I'm leaning towards a stealth radar detector. There are two rheostats there, not just one, if you look carefully. An inner one and then an outer one, which is similar to the controls on a Valentine 1. The inner one controls the volume upon detection of a threat, and the outer one controls the volume after you press "mute." Does the inner rheostat also press inwards?
