1 button remote to a 2 button remote?

I have a 1 button remote for door lock and unlock only. If I get a remote with the 2 button remote with the trunk button will it work on our early 996's with the 1 button remote?

Anyone confirm that the trunk release is lever is mechanical/cable or electronic?

I don't think so. I'm pretty sure the early 996's use a cable to open the trunk,so pressing the button wouldn't do anything.

I was wondering the same thing. I agree with JSavianJr, I think it is a cable (kinda feels like it when I pull the latch), but is there a way to convert that? I would be interested in doing so because I use the truck a lot and would like to have the button on my key to pop it open.
