what I found cleaning my rads.
It is 2 years ago since I cleaned the crud from between the rads and condensers. I decided that I needed to do them again. To my surprise I found a little sparrow, a large grasshopper and a lot of hard packed debris. This was mostly on the drivers side. The passenger side didn't look to bad at all. Can anyone tell me where I can get those guards for inside the air scoops as I find a lot of pebble marks on the front of the condensers both side.
I added the Kilroy graffiti..

Thanks for that link I learned a lot. I now know how to do them myself. BTW that price is the biggest rip off I have ever seen in the Porsche world yet because these are nothing more than simple GUTTER GUARDS. I bought one today from my local hardware store in silver with the intention of fixing it just as the site showed in their photographs. Cost under $5. I cut it in half and it fit perfectly as you see in my photos. There price on the site $275... Again thanks for that link.

So I finished the job on my 1999 996. Remove the bumper as here
Then take the bumper on a carpeted floor. Buy a
leaf gutter guard from a hardware store. Cut it in
half with tin snips each 18 inches long. The gutter
guard is 3 foot long. The mesh is very pliable and
can be bent into shape by hand. I used three screws
on each side bending the mesh around the slots leaving room
for the air scoops to sit in place for when the bumper goes
back on the car.
Here are the tools you will need.
here is the inside of the bumper in the living room on the carpet so not to mark the paintwork.
Here is the front before putting it back on the car.
And here is the finished job. I can always spray paint them black if they tarnish but like the silver color.
Check this site out at $275 a pop which cost me under $5.. DIY job start to finish 2 hours tops. I am 72 years of age and found it a very easy DIY job. I don't like posting links unless I think the 996 owners are being ripped off and this time I have proved it.

I see the exact same gutter guard at Home Depo at $2-29 for one. One is all you need, cut in half down to 18 inches. http://www.homedepot.com/p/Amerimax-Home-Products-6-in-x-36-in-Hinged-Gutter-Guard-Unpainted-85280/100002884?cm_mmc=CJ-_-1319015-_-10368321&AID=10368321&PID=1319015&srccode=cii_1373 6960&cpncode=33-194530964-2&cj=true
