Muffler Bypass in canada
Hi
I just got my 2002 996 C2 for x-mas, but we have -40C right now and 1m of snow on the ground. I probably have to wait till April (cross fingers ) till I can enjoy my new baby
So I have lots of time on my hand to look up all possible modifications!!
I came across the Muffler Bypass and I like it, great sound!
Any Canadian drivers out there who has installed a Muffler Bypass in their 996 and ran into major trouble with the OPP or local police?

you will get annoyed of the sound pretty quickly and find yourself wanting to re-install the factory mufflers ... it drones inside the car prety bad
an intake on the other hand sounds absolutely amazing and wont annoy you. Look it up on youtube !

I agree, it will get anoying after a while, you could do the "Gundo Hack" or Fisters. I've heard first hand a muffler bypass and it's loud, even at idle.

Looks like I will get the K&N Air intake kit for now and may work on the "Gundo Hack" later.
I have found some inspiration on this page http://www.oz951.com/public/emmy.htm#Exhaust

I actually love my muffler bypass. Makes the car sound so mean. I've had mine on for 5 years and it's a cabrio. It's not my daily driver, but i think i could still handle it everyday. All the other exhaust systems don't change the sound enough to justify the price they charge, aside from the stock muffler hack which is cheap. You can get a set of bypass pipes on ebay cheap to see if you like it.

I just had a partial muffler by-pass done this week in Brampton by Master Performance and it is essentially the gundo hack as I took in the pics with me. The sound is amazing on acceleration and very quiet with no drone in the cabin. I am very happy with the results.
