Emergency Brake Sensor Preventing Top Operation

Over the holidays I purchased a 2002 C2 Cab that was a garage queen (47K miles). Everything was perfect considering she was 12 years old. The only issue I have is the parking brake sensor works intermittently thus preventing top operation. I've searched the forums but have come up empty. Can anyone point me in the right direction? I know I can bypass this but I'm not sure that single press or remote operation is something I need or want. Thanks in advance.

I would the the center console apart and check the status of the switch. Could be a loose or dirty connection.
