GT3 wheel set up and handling

I've been researching new wheels and tires and noticed that the GT3 setup of 18x8.5 and 18x11 wheels with the stock offsets align the outside edges of the tires perfectly squarely around the car. All 4 tires end up aligned. Does this have any impact on handling? Currently, I have Carrera III's on my NB and there is 6-7mm of difference between the front and rear tires' outside edge. I am curious if the GT3 setup is an improvement over stock?

It is for a wide body. For a narrow-body, the factory set up seems to be just what the engineers specified.
