Build log: 996 3.4 C2 (Turbo Conversion)

I will start Converting my Porsche 996 3.4 C2 Year: 1999.

Here is my game plan and i know how to weld and already buildt one car with good result (2.3Liter 579bwhp).

My opinion is that it shouldnt be to hard to complete a Turbo conversion more then time and some money (Not to expensive of cause)

Step 1 (Low boost from 300hk to 400-450hk)
First step for my turbo conversion is low boost, only upgrading of “external” components.

• Twin turbo
• Electrical oil pump for the cooling to the turbos (Because of its low position below engine)
• External wastegate
• Dump valve
• Intercoolers from 996/997 turbo [IMAGE] VS Single intercooler below the Wing (Looks nice)
• Injectors (For low and high boost if possible to balance)
• Fuels management system for controlling the fuel, air, electrical, engine timing
• Fuel pump - if possible high flow pump in tank for less upgrade
• E85 fuel
• Tube / Pipes from and to intercooler/turbo/intake manifold
• 2.5” / 3” throttle
• X-Pipe exhaust

Step 2 (High Boost- +500hk - 800hk)
Purpose: fast as hell sleeper Cabriolet for Street and Drag race

Change internal components to bigger volume maybe change engine compression.

• Piston
• Rods
• Sleeves
• Bigger turbo for Higher boost if not possible to re-use previews turbo

Images will be uploaded when the build starts. (soon)

Any coments besides buy a 996TT? :P

Why not a single turbo like I did?

My turbo sits high enough above the engine in the wheel well that I don't need an electrical oil pump for the turbos, so you could mount them that way as well.

I would add on the oil pan extension that stephan has on his car.

Are you going to mount the turbos in the wheel well or behind the block where the factory cats sit like bisi?

How will you feed air to the 996tt intercoolers sufficient that would prove more beneficial than an A/W IC?

I wouldn't "maybe" change compression if going above 500, I absolutely would change it.

I would love to see it happen!

Hi, i saw your ride and googled the hell out of converted carrera 996

Twin turbo for me is better drive at low rpm not only high rpm and power.
This looks like something that would be possible.

Turbo placement was planed behind the wheels as original placement 996 turbo.

But im a big fan of Singel turbo and the installation This is a VERY nice installation and im stil consider what way to go.

Yes, Step 2 will be change compression to what suit me after the first upgrade. New internal components will be custom anyway so why not make it optimal the same time.

I want to place them as 996 originals and make some air intake, but a big intercooler below the wing and a wing with air inlet and diverted air should do the job.

So two diffrent setups... Where to go i guess will be decied when i lift the car to measure and do some testing with spare turbo and intercoolers that are laying around

NineEreven: I will go for singel turbo.

I got two Holset in the garage but one was to small Hx30w (Max 400HP) and the other one to big HX55 (Max 750HP)

Lets see what i could find then :P

I don't get what the problem is with either of those? Run the smaller one at first then change to the other one after adjusting compression
