Option Code Sticker Help

Okay, I know what EVERY number or code on my option code sticker (located under the hood) means except one: at the very top of the sticker (above the VIN) there is a number 151-0504 (followed by many spaces and then) USM that I believe older 911s used to be identified on the label as a "SORT. NR.".

Does anyone know what this number (and USM) is and what it means? Any specific significance to the numbers (like in the VIN where every number means something)? Does USM mean US Market?

I'm stymied and fall at the feet of those with superior knowledge.

Thanks.

It's not an option code, it's the Fahrgestell Nummer (Fahrgestell Nr, FahrgestellNummer ) which if memory serves me, Germany's version of the VIN.

Thanks for your info, but after a quick check on the internet I don't think that's right, because the Fahrgestell Nr seems to be much longer. Also, I read a previous article somewhere on the internet (which nauturally I have never been able to find again) that seemed to indicate that the numbers had something to do with an order number? Also, previous 911s had a heading on the option code sticker called "SORT. NR." (in addition to a VIN) and that seems to be what this number is. My sticker, and the number I'm referring to is highlighted in a red box on the attached photo. The older 911 sticker is attached also and the number I think is equivalently the same is highlighted in yellow.

Does that help any?

I think you're correct, the Fahrgestell Nr is the number below the SORT.NR.

Me too, I've tried everything and there seems to be very limited info. I do know the "CO2" at the bottom is the country code for USA. I can't find anything on the SORT. NR.

Sort. Nr.

This is what I know from my research /deduction.
EXAMPLE: 1984 911 3.2 under hood sticker
SORT. NR.: 114-XXXX XXXX U?

I know that my 1984 SORT. NR. shows the first bit of data as 114-#### this compared to all other 1984 hood stickers I see for sale on the internet and ebay over the years is an internal sorting sequential number for the model year 114- because all 1984's I have seen start with 114- (other years have other numbers in these 3 positions). (NOTE: Many 911's for sale show this sticker with the original window sticker and VIN all together in the ad online, great for historical research line this!) (100% confirmed to be true.)

The four digits after that seem to be a unique sequential number to the car itself but different than the VIN. I believe this i the sorting number for internal options found on the bottom of the sticker. (Not confirmed.)

The next set of 4 numbers IS the dealer code in my 1984 911 translation. The original window sticker (aka Monroney) shows the dealers name and address in the top right of the original window sticker and this 4 digit number IS above the dealer name and address on each and every one of of the windows stickers (100% confirmed).

Next bit of data is of the SORT. NR. line ends in UL, or UM, or USM. I think this is an importer code. (Not confirmed.)

I too have been wondering exactly what this code means and I even called several Porsche dealers and Porsche Classic for help. No answers to date. This is the most I know about the code to date. If I find out more I will gladly post it to help everyone know.

- Thanks!

Also, the USM on your original code I have been told by others with 911's is the importer code on later than 1984 911's.
