Installing Aftermarket Seats

Is it necessary to disconnect the battery or is that just additional precaution? I've read to keep the key far away from the car but just wondering if I really need to disconnect the battery. I don't believe I have the radio code unfortunately.

No need but just make sure you don't turn your ignition on if the seat connectors aren't connected to the seats or you'll trip the light.

I had mine disabled via pst2 so I never need to worry and can swap in and out race seats.

ok, i am super confused!
i am planning on installing aftermarket seat this spring.
my current factory seats dont have seat air bags.
i called the dealer to discuss what they need to do, and they keep telling me they will not disable the pretensioner on the seatbelts.
they told me they will not disable any safety systems, which of course i am ok with.

So my question is, what does the dealer need to do , and what they will to do?

UGH!

6ta1 will become famous soon enough
dealer doesn't need to do anything.

there is no seat airbags on any 996 but they all have seat belts pretensionners.

So you just need to re-use your stock seatbelts buckles on your aftermarket seats.

Really no rocket science here - just make sure you do not turn the ignition on while the seats are disconnected.

I'm contemplating swapping race seats in/out as well. Isn't there a weight sensor in the passenger side seat that needs to be connected to not trip the airbag light?

Is it just the dealer system that's needed or will durametric do it as well?

Thanks guys , I spoke to the dealer and he ran my vin and said there was no sensor on the passenger seat.
I found this excellent article, which answered my question where to plug in the set belt connections..

First seat is ready for install tomorrow..
I bought the Planted mounting brackets only to discover the factory bolts don't fit, so I had to drill out access hole...
