Nice thing about the Porsche in General

Noticed people in general cannot distinguish between the different models of Porsches. From the 993, 996,997, and now 991. When I tell them my ride is a 03 they are shocked! Happen to you??? Share your stories. Never happened when I owned a Corvette.

I get the same deal. That and people just see a kid driving a 911. Always have to remind them that its a 2002 and that its relatively inexpensive.

Hence why I removed my Cayman S badge and put on the new PORSCHE logo.

All the time, especially after the good wash, wax, and polish. Recently I visited a shop not too shady part of Camden to gain intel on rims and trends. They would sell me the goods but wouldn't even touch my car. When I told them it's the price of a loaded Explorer, they were taken aback. One gent spent of $25k on modding his Impala over the years and never thought he could afford a luxury car. Now he and the other fellas are starting to look at Pcars too.

On the downside-- other WOMEN! The scowls and vicious things they say, from "Look who found a sugar daddy" to "kids in that car? What kind of mother..." They probably can't tell whether I paid $30k or $130k for the car, but based on the attitudes, I think the latter. It's a blessing and a curse for ladies.

911s just have timeless beauty.

On my MY 2000 C2 Cab, I replaced my tail lights with the Depo LEDs. I also removed the Carrera badging that was cracked and replaced it with "PORSCHE" and "911" (OEM 991 badging).

Last summer as I was getting off a parkway, I saw another MY2000 C2 Cab coming onto the exit ramp behind me and I slowed down a bit so he could pull along side. He shouted to me "I hope you get as many great years out of your car as I have from this one"

As we went our separate ways I realized that he probably thought mine was a newer model.

A friend of mine just got this spank-en new 2014 Cab in dark metallic blue. My wife couldn't even tell the difference when I showed her this pic. Her comment was "I thought he was getting a new one, isn't that the same as yours?"

When you get up close to his the difference becomes pretty obvious though, the 991s are just huge!

Its so weird!!! The same thing happends to me, a lot!

For example, my neigbour came around one day I was washing the car. He was wery impressed of the car and asked me how many month I´d own it, since it looked brand new. I explained it was a 2001 year model.

He just laughed and said "dont joke with me, seriouls, how many months?"

When I explained it one more time, he just looked at me and was completly amazed

I just sold my 2000 996 with 87,000 and bought a 997 and my neighbor asked why I sold my car and bought an older one. My 996 was pristine and so is my 06 997 with only 26,000 miles, both aero cars too. Nobody could believe my 996 was 14 years old.

Yep. First buddy of mine I took for a spin sat down in the car, asked me what year it was, when I said 99, he said "You're sh!++ing me!"

So which one is yours? I had to do a double take then compare to your profile pic to tell.
