Compare insurance with everyone
I don't own one yet but....in the near future i will.
I think it would be interesting to compare what other 996 owners are paying for insurance annually. If you would like to partake please list your year/ model of car (ie carrera2 or 4 etc) your age and insurance company. Thank you.

Welcome. So on your first post, you want to know what we drive, what we pay and where we are. That's an awful lot on a first date. Additionally, it won't help you any. Insurance is based on more than age, vehicle and location. Driving record, sex, marriage status, number of vehicles insured by the same company, number of policies (home, life, automotive, liability...). Too many variables to provide the information you request. Just call your insurance agent and he/she will tell you what YOU will pay when you buy a Porsche. Good luck.

Ok - let me suggest taking this a different direction. I drive my 996 about 3500-4000 miles per year. A fellow PCA member told me he had some insurance through a company that advertised in Panorama (I didn't find the ad) and offered a really low rate if the car isn't driven much (he drives his car about the same as mine). I asked my agent and a competing agent if they offered anything like this and they don't. Anyone know of such a policy?

Haha. I really am not an insurance agent. But that sure does look like hard to beat evidence with the guy in my same city and same name and he's an insurance salesman. But Memphis and metro surrounding area is ~1 million so there is probably other Clinton Davis' out there and you know that insurance salesmen are a dime a dozen.
Really, i just thought it'd be interesting to compare rates. But you all are right, there are too many variables. But thought they should be in the same ballpark for someone in the mid thirties, with a clean driving record. Sorry for the newby post.

You can also get it insured through places like Hagerty or other specialty/collector car insurance companies. It can be as low as $200/year depending on car and other factors.
Ever since I started commuting on the train to my new gig, I switched over to such policy. I think I pay almost $200 every 6 months.

theclutch, not sure what state your in...but $100k of liability protection any more is nothing, wage garnishments are a possibility if you don't have liquid or assets to sell in the event of a bad lawsuit exceeding the $100k mark. - edit: also why would you want to risk those said assets.
This coverage is very inexpensive with most carriers (raising to 500/500 or even 1000/1000 shouldn't be much more than $50 for the policy period/car), you drive a Porsche...you hit someone, they sue you, just because of your car, you might have a lien on it, in debt further than your eyes can see (not saying you are, just an example) but they think your Mr. Money Bags...just say'in
BTW 23 here, (1 MAJOR driving violation about 42 months ago, stays on my insurance in Mi for 60 mths), 500/1000 BI, Under and Un-ins, $100 comp and $2,000 collision (semi-self insure that part) and I pay $800 for 6 months, full pay (in one of the highest premium state in the nation). I'm pretty happy with it, all things considered.

Really too many variables consider age, vehicle, location, driving record, sex, marriage status, number of vehicles insured by the same company, number of policies etc etc. I will tell here in Fl it is a requirement to have PIP which raised the policy a little.
