FF Mount Jury Still Out

FF Mount Jury Still Out
Well, I took another drive this morning and I'm now having some reservations about this mod. Did it improve the handling, YES, did it improve the shifting chrispness, YES, however the NVH may bit untollarable so I'm not sure the trade-off is worth it. The vibration is considerable and the noise leve is such the radio is usless. So at this point the jury is still out.
If you install these mounts there will be no relaxing beach type cruising, or just a nice country drive.
They make the ride harsh, loud and rough.

I was considering semi solids but my Indy talked me out of them because of NVH so I bought (but have not installed) factory. I have 83k on the clock so I figure it is time. From what I've read, though, the NVH improves after a while. Whether this is due to the mounts "bedding in" or the driver becoming more accustomed to them, I do not know.

Thats kind of strange. I did the RSS and noise/vibration only icreased wery Little. When you drive the car its hardly noticeable. But when you stand still you can feel some more vibration in the steeringwheel.

As an up-date; I e-mailed FF and Luka responded very quickly (thanks) and said the mounts have not seated themselves yet and to give it a little time. So I spent some time driving her and with each time the NVH has indeed decreased. Now it's noticeable but not overbearing. One this I did notice is some of the negative camber has gone away making the tires sit more even, which is nice. So let's see what happens over the next several weeks.
I do know oart of the issue was I changed the motor mounts and put the tranny inserts in.

The upgrade I did from FF (trany bushing) I think may be the biggest issue with NVH. I had my semi solid RSS mount installed for a while before installing the trany mount and noticed very little increase of NVH.

No issues(at least bothersome) with my FF mounts. When people buy "performance" products, they got to expect some trade off, unless you want to buy a new car that has active engine mounts and shocks.
I hope you get yours resolved as mine is nothing like you describe.

Oh didn't know you also had the tranny inserts. I believe the tranny inserts bring up the nvh one more notch. You can always remove those if you find you can't live with the nvh

Yup, did both, my thinking was to do the whole "system." Vibration has settled down quite a bit as has the noise. I may put a little sound deadening material behind the seats though, we'll see.
I will say the handling has dramatically increased for the better as has the braking.

Yup no free lunches with older cars. Pay to play, can't have your cake too...

It's the transmission mounts that cause the most vibration and noise. I installed both because I felt it would create a total system. Since the install and subsequent break-in both noise and vibration have been reduced. The shifting is smoother and is the clutch operation and braking is much better. Also, seems to have reduced some of the negative camber.
