Feeler: 996 3.4L motor 42K miles

Hello,

I recently boosted my car but am hankering for more power. I wanted to gather some opinions on my motor (with and without turbo kit on it) on what a fair estimate is and best place to go about selling it. Can't say I have sold a motor locally or online before so just gathering some information. Has anyone sold a drop out before? Best way to ship it?

Specs: '00 911 millenium edition car (42K miles), Motor is in great shape, only had the turbo kit on it for 1K miles but runs great.

Thoughts?

More power than the boosted setup you had? Aren't you going to be mostly traction limited at that point or do you plan on running the TX mile?

I've seen 3.4 for $6k on the lower side and $9k on the higher side.

Might wanna do and show compression and leakdown figures to make it more sale able. This should bring in higher amount.

As for shipping, yellow freight was the standard but if you google them, there's a site that aggregates all the independent and bigger shipping companies and returns you all their rates.

I Think if you want more Power than a boosted 3.4 you might concider upgrading to the Tturbo.

I mean, not just sell the Engine but sell the car. It will be realy expensive what you are thinking about. Gearbox might need some upgrade to if you want more Power, and brakes and........

But if you got the $$$ I would personaly keep the 3.4 and get it upgraded to a 4.1

Put it in your regional PCA publication. Someone racing or rebuilding may want/need one. Otherwise, throw it on Ebay. Either way be ready to have someone available to pull it and ready to install the new engine. Once you start the process you might have to move quickly.

Hmmm with turbo... maybe I'll buy it for $6k instead of paying for IMS upgrade so my cab can keep up with the black&yellow

I agree with the turbo upgrade. So much more fun and more to play with!

Might I suggest that you video tape the car being driven, the engine in the car running and the removal? In my opinion I would feel a lot more secure buying it if I could see and hear how it performed before it was removed. Just a thought.
