Oddments bin

Hi all

I'm having trouble with my oddments bin (storage area between driver passenger seat) and it won't stay shut nor lock into place. Just wondered of anyone else has had this trouble and if the catch can be repaired or if there's a part number or replacement mod available

Thanks

You can purchase a center console hinge repair kit from Suncoast Parts which should take care of your problem. I experienced this same issue. Good luck.

Yes, I ordered a similar part from pelican and it works well. Now anyone know why we call it an oddment bin? Very weird terminology. Sent from my iPad using 6SpeedOnline

Thanks SMKaz but im not sure its the hinge more the lock as it wont stay down and shut...or is it the hinge is faulty and preventing the lid from staying down?

The issue you're describing sounds exactly what I was experiencing however in my case it was very apparent that the hinge was not working properly so I decided to start there. Fortunately it worked.

UrsaMinor1 - were you able to solve the problem by replacing the hinge? I've started having the same issue where the lid doesn't latch and the lid pops upward. Thanks for any insight you can provide!

JPG996tt - im having the exact same issues but havent yet gotten around to taking a look yet as my CEL light problems were more of a priority. Im not sure the hinge is the right fix as the hinge is in tact and works fine but the clasp just wont catch to stay closed. It is next on my agenda but let me know how you get on, race ya

OK, thanks! I'm trying to avoid pulling the console apart if there is another, simple fix available. Like you, I have another higher priority right now - coil packs need replacing on the Cayenne. If I figure the latch issue out before you do, I'll let you know! In the meantime, I'm using some painter's tape to keep the lid down so I can shift while driving.
