Thumbs up Aftermarket keyless entry

Hello everyone,

I was hoping I could get some input on installing an after market keyless entry. My key fob no longer works and I don't really want to pay the dealer $223.45 for the key fob, plus $165 to program it.

I know how to install the keyless entry but I wanted to know if the factory alarm will arm if I tap into the door lock trigger.

Thanks!

IMO, you're risking it, it may work but it could also cause other problems with the electrical/alarm system.

While the cost to get the keys sorted at the dealer seems high, it won't seem so bad after you spend more money on this aftermarket keyless entry system and then give up and fall back to using the very nice door lock/security system the car comes with.

I would stay with the stock keyless entry. You can even upgrade your key to a Carrera GT style to make it seem like a fresh upgrade.

Thanks for the idea I may just stick to the factory keyless entry just to do this mod.

Agreed. Don't do it! I've had a ton of trouble with aftermarket keyless entry systems over the years and almost ZERO problems with stock systems.
