I would take drastic actions to seal your carport if your intent on parking a car that close to the ocean. Up here in Daytona, exposed cars beachside only last 2-3 years before components start showing signs of rust. If you can't seal the carport, I would take any risk associated with a car cover and use it like a crackpipe habit. It's not the paint you should worry about, it's the salt/sand getting into all the cracks and crevices. Is there a nearby garage you can rent? Good luck ! John.

After watching a recent TV Documentary, I would be more worried about a sink hole opening under your car than the salt/wind/sand etc in Florida (the sink hole capital of the world).. And I am not joking.
