I am strongly considering ordering a new top with the glass window upgrade (window is from the boxster, and therefore smaller - small enough to fit where the current vinyl window folds)

There's very little info out there on these tops.

Has anyone done this upgrade? How do you like it?

 

Welcome to 6speed! The upgrade to a glass window is definitely worth it, in my opinion. Mine is going on 5 years, and I haven't experienced any problems. The visibility is a bit less than the OEM plastic window (due to the smaller size). I've gotten used to it. There are many threads on this forum related to this very topic. Do a search on the 996 board for more info.

as a previous convertible car owner (BMW), I had a plastic window and changed the top to get one with glass rear, the difference is worth every ridiculous cent. Plus if you can find one made out of Sailcloth, it will be very quiet... good luck !
