996 C4s rebuilt to 3.8

Hi There everyone,

I'm picking up a C4S 996 that has been rebuilt by Eu auto works.. rebored from 3.6 to 3.8 and has the IMS from LN engineering done. I know the 3.6 to 3.8 rebuild is common.. but how are people's experiences with it?

Thanks!

I am in the midst of making a similar decision and am also in Canada, but was looking to send it to flat6 in the states. Do you know how they accomplished it (such as ordering a set of Nickies from LN Engineering). Thanks!

I have a copy of the receipt and called EU auto works.. they pretty much ordered all the nickies, new IMS... pistons.. everything from LN Engineering. I have the receipt that was provided to me from the dealership.

You send your engine case to LN & they press fit the 99mm diameter "nickies" sleeves into your block, before shipping it back to you.

I have an '03 C4S, and I've given some thought to my options for increased power. Thought about a supercharger, and I might pursue that option, but I frankly don't need 475 horsepower.

What kind of power increase is touted for the 3.6 to 3.8 upgrade(s)? Any information from those of you on this string? I appreciate any info, including cost range (5,10,15, 20k).
Thanks.

Value wise, only forced induction makes sense at around $10k. Stroker motors start at $20k for 40-50% less power, not to mention a more narrow powerband and less torque.

As others will say, you're better off trading in your car for a turbo or higher mileage 997 Carrera S model if you want that kind of power or if you wanna spend that kind of money.

Given the price differential, I'd rather spring for 10k and installation for the supercharger. I prefer the appearance of the C4S to the 996TT, which is largely why I went out and bought another one.
Needless, excessive, unjustifiable power would, however be nice.

35hp difference from a 997 S 3.8 and a 996.2 4S 3.6 is surprisingly noticeable but not a deal breaker by any means both drive and power through wonderfully.
