What is wrong with the 996?

There will always be haters, it's just a fact of life. I couldn't care less though of their views opinions or for what they drive. I love my 996 with every fibre of being, she's the perfect car. I love talking about it, looking at it, even scrolling the pics in my phone I find myself smiling. It's mine, I worked hard and earned every inch of it. I look at it from various angles checking the lines and how sleek it is. I look at others Pcars and know we have a bond, an unspoken loyalty and brotherhood. I love the head lights, infact I look at older and newer models and think how small their lights look, like pi$$ holes in the snow. Of course I wouldn't say no to a 997 but I don't think I could ever trade my 996 C4S cab, although I am currently looking for a coupe brother for her so I have the best of both worlds. My G/F doesn't understand it, she says I'm obsessive and it's just a machine. I tell her "babe I own a Porsche, and you own a fantastic shoe collection, be happy".
Happiness comes in many shapes, sizes and forms and mine happens to be a 996 so who cares about an opinion on headlights or water cooled engines - I own a freaking porsche.

question
Great point, what will be a performance exhaust option for a battery powered Porsche??
QUOTE=bernard.barbour;4338641]Very well said and I might add this nugget of a thought. When the all new totally electric Porsche cars come along, our 1st generation (996) will be very desirable, [/QUOTE]

You confirmed that the 4C S actually exists. Thanx Here is my ride in question. I like the head lights BTW Bought it used with 48K on the dial. It has been driven from Houston to TN (one way) and from TN to Miami there and back. Now has 47K on the dial... Factory Aeri Kit Carbon Fiber trim New Tint and tunes..MB Quart 4s in the dash and rear, factory subs in doors and 8 inch Sub in back...
(Sorry couldn't resist you have less miles than when you started).

I've always wanted a "911" style Porsche. Didn't matter what year, just as long as it was in my budget. I've had my 99 996 for 4 yrs now and like it just as much as the first day I brought it home. People talk negative about the 996's because of the IMS problems. I've got 150k on it and it's still purring. (Started out with 128k)

You can't listen to what people think. Some will love the car and others wont, that goes for any car. In my mind i can't understand why a person would ever buy a subaru wrx. BUT, they are loved by so many people. It doesn't make my opinion right or there's wrong. I LOVE the 996!! My c4s is my baby. Do i like the 997 front end better? Yup...by a far long shot. Do I like the 996 c4s rear end better than a 997? Without a second guess. The 997 rear end or any 911 for that matter doesn't even compare to the 996 c4s rear end. So, that's why I've decided to put the 997 front end on my 996. Some on here will call me stupid, my reply is to kiss my ***. To me that's the ultimate 911. Bottom line is to drive what you love and who cares who thinks what.

Nothing!
I did not read all 5 pages however I'll join in. I believe the 996 is an exceptional car! All of the human elements of Porsche before too much technology took it away. At the same time great create comforts like AC
IMO the 996.2 is a better looking car than the 997. There's just something about the 997 that looks to me it's trying too hard to be a 911SC (which I'm found of btw). The 996 has better lines and is certainly more streamlined IMO. Here's my 40th Anniversary next to my buddy's 07 997. Oh and it's stable mate too.
