Good deal on a 1999 996

I just found this on Craigslist. Looks like a good deal to me. I have no interest in this car and have no knowledge of it or the owners, I just thought I would pass along what appears to be a bargain.

That does appear to be a very good bargain price.

Right?? Lower mileage, deluxe interior with Litronics headlights? Seems like a good deal to me. Plus if you live out of state, you get to fly to the OC and drive it home. Might even be a bit of wiggle room in the price. I'm just looking out for my fellow P-car enthusiasts.

The 99 jobs have the double IMS race bearing. I like the real leather interior. The cab brings higher prices (usually). The mileage is very low for the year. In the back of my head I hear "you get what you pay for"... In this case I would have a qualified Porsche Mechanic do the PPI for me. The asking price seems way to reasonable and raises a red flag in my mind. I hope I am wrong for any prospective purchasers sake. I would check the working of the cab hood several times before buying. They are known to be a PITA when they start to go wrong. Ask me how I know hahaha. It says nothing about having the hard top with it.

I bought my 1999 996 6 years ago with 44k and a hard top for the same price. In that time period I haven't spent a dime in repairs outside of having a hose replaced because it had a small cut in it that wasn't even leaking. Other than that, all has been running like a top. The thing to understand is that luxury cars in Orange county are as thick as flies. I sat in a restaurant in Newport Beach that was right on Pacific coast highway one Friday with one of my employees and we decided to do a quick bit of math on the $ value of the high end cars that were going by. They had to be late model. We gave Porsches $100k, Fararri/Mclaren etc $150k, Tesla $50k and Bentley/Rolls $200. We gave up on counting at 4.7 million because our food was ready. This was at a Baja Fresh fast food joint. My point is, there are A LOT of good deals on older luxury cars here. Having said that, a PPI is always a good idea. Cheers! Alan
