Thought I would never do it, But

Well, I thought I would never do it when I bought my 996 8 yrs ago. I was gonna keep it 4ever. But time has changed. This may sound crazy but I just got bored of it. I mean really?? who's bored of driving their Porsche. There's plenty of room left to make it look better, go faster, etc, etc. But I just want something new. So, I sold my baby today . Hopefully she's going to a good home.
Its funny how you spent countless hrs, days, months, maybe even yrs modifying to your liking plus all that $$$ you spent on & it only take minutes to tear it a part. I spent the weekend putting her back to stock. The aero front bumper went back on. I sold my stock rims so the Forgestar have to stay, that suck. The roof spoiler & rear diffuser have to stay also b/c I can't remove it w/o breaking it. The headlights was the hard part. I have to shave some paint off to expose the stock signal lights. The clear coat on the headlights was blistering but I guess that's not my problem now. Stock mirrors, intake & tail lights goes back on. And of course the pumpkin markers. Glad I didn't sell that. I almost got teary eyes doing it but had to.

Anyway here's how she look stock, Last pic was before it was sold.

At least you held onto the stock pieces. Keep us updated with whatever you go with.

If you're considering another 911, go test drive a turbo.

Man, the same thing happened to me. Our cars were so similar! Now I know what you meant by your comment, "at the end of the day, it's still a 996." lol. Dang, I had a set of stock wheels that you could have used. Are you going to sell your 997 mirrors, and if so how much do you want for them?

That was a sweet ride, you did some nice work. I have only had my 996 for two years but I am already yearning for a 991 but I tend to get bored easy and change cars often.

Question... How did you cut those perfect circles for the head and signal lights? I covered one light but could not figure out how to get cut the perfect eliptical shape for the headlights?

thanks, she will be missed.
If you look closely at the headlight, there should already be an elliptical outline all around. I used that as a guideline & masked around it. After paint & clear coat, I used a thin pinstripe to refine the line. As for the signal lights, I just find some round object (paint can cap) & traced the line

amazing it is, I ended up buying an '07 997 C2S manual. I'd looked at other cars like the benz, bimmer & audi but somehow the pcar was always on my mine.
There is no substitute I guess unless it's the Fcar or lambo. Too rich for me right now. . I've thought about the 996TT but I just want to get out of the 996 era. The 997TT was also out of my $$ range, so the C2S will have to do for now.

anyway, here she is.
Almost the same color combo as my old 996. She's bone stock for now.

Wow!!! she's a beauty!!!

I know what you mean that other cars don't compare well when up against a 911. I have had an M3, S4, 545i etc. I bought my 2000 C4 just see what the 911 fuss was all about now that I am going on three years ownership I really want to drive the best 911 I can afford.

Good luck with the new ride.

Congrats! Does it feel just a bit or a lot faster than your old one. The 3.8 should give you a nice bump in hp but more importantly the torque which seems to be lagging on the 3.4's. Although for me, the 997 seemed a bit more muted but well refined nonetheless.

thanks,
Yeah I can definitely feel the difference with this 6spd. The 996 was a tip so its lagging a bit. The smile gets bigger every I hammered the pedal..
here's what I done so far.
-smoked markers & signal lights, well these are from my old 997 GT3 bumper
-put the Carrerra S badge on & stone guard
I may get the DEPO tail lights next.
