996 C4S Pricing
So I've been looking for a local 2000-2004 996 C4S coupe (with manual trans) for under $2,800 and I've contacted a few dealerships in the area and have been told by one that those cars usually go for the mid to upper $30K. I know that my budget means that I'm not going to get a garage queen with super low miles, but am I smoking crack to think I can find what I want? I do see some across the country, but I really want to see the car in person before I plunk down the cash, so I'm hoping that I can find one in WA, preferably near Seattle.
Thanks

I would say $30 - $40k is the going price, however here is one in your backyard.

Also, if you know someone who is a PCA member ask them to see the latest editions of Panorama, there are several listed in the for sale section under 30K. And these are PCA members who usually take care of their cars. The go to eBay, Autotrader, cars.com etc. Google Porsche 996 C4S for sale.
Good luck, hope you find what you're looking for.

What is high mileage? These cars are built to be driven and are not a problem with diligent maintenance. I have 124,000 on mine. I bought it with 106,000. To buy a C4S with over 100,000 is not bad as long as you've got maintenance records. Garage queens with very low mileage on the other hand seem to have more issues since they have been sitting. I bet you can find a C4S for a little over more or less than 100,000 miles for under 25k. Get the carfax and the maintenance records and you should be good to go. GLWTS.

I bought my 2003 C4s for 28k Canadian. My car has 70k miles on it all service records since new brand new tires and brakes fresh PPI.
My car was in an accident in 09 and repaired you cannot tell what so ever but that is what I used to reduce the price, along with a small coolant the original owner took care of.

I just picked up my first Porsche. I found an 03 996 C4S in Portland. It has 90,000 and I got it for $26,000. It's a seal grey coupe and in great shape. I need to get new tires since this will be my daily driver. Any suggestions on daily driver tires for these? I'm not going to take it on the track, so I won't need something super "sticky". I live in the Seattle area, so something good in rain is a "must".
Cheers.

Great! Congrats, can you post some pictures of your new baby?
Sumitomo Tires are good and at a reasonable cost. A lot of forum members use and like them, in fact they will be my next set as I think the Kumho's aren't available anymore. Check this out:

I also have an '03 C4s and really enjoy it.
Good Luck.

Excellent! I'll check them out. Also, since I have no experience here, any recommendations on fluids (oil, trans, coolant, etc.) and what brand filter to use?

She's a beauty... one of the best things is the LNE spin on filter adapter, you can use a regular filter and get better filtration. On the oil, any Porsche approved oil is okay, for the rest of the fluids, go with what Porsche recommends.
