997 parts that fit the 996

Hi all,

In the quest for better condition parts I have found that there are quite a few parts from a 997 that will fit a 996. The obvious advantage is the 997 being newer so some of these parts can be in better condition than older 996 parts...

Wanted to start a list of the parts from a 997 that fit a 996 without any modification

So far I have:

- Headliner (coupe)
- Overhead interior light (coupe)
- Seat belts (coupe)
- Air box including air filter
- Front strut dust caps
- Shifter mechanism including SSK kit
- Seat belt interior caps (coupe)

Feel free to add to the list

I did do a search and couldn't find any threads like this so thought id start one!

Cheers

Actually you'll find quite a few things that will fit as the 997 still uses many parts with the "996.xxx.xxx..." designation just like the 996 where you can find some parts on it with the 993 designation. However, there are more similarities between the 996 to 997 so the better question should really be what "doesn't" fit between those two IMO.

anyone know if the visors swap over? I'd like to get some that could slide back. I sit so far back that the stock ones are useless most of the time.

Roll bar, especially a Porsche Tequipment one? I've seen some aftermarket roll bars that stated their roll bar would fit both a 996 and 997.

I actually dug a little deeper, does anyone know if the front plastic section of a 997 headliner will fit a 996? The part number changed from a 996 to 997 while the actual material and rear plastic remained the same 996 part number.

Thanks!

I wonder if the dash would fit. The door panels might as well. The door line is different but I don't think that makes a difference. The door line is the outer skin.
