996 slow cranking, worse when hot

We've had this car about 4 years, and I'm on my 2nd battery. The car seems to crank fine when cold, but today after a 20 min drive, it cranked slowly. Turn over once, then stopped. I cycled the key about 5x and it finally started. The dome lights, etc, weren't dim.

I drove it home (about another 5 min). Same issue. When running, the voltage is 13-14, so its not indicating that the battery is low.

I did a quick google around, seems that the alternator to starter cable is a common issue (?)

What is the routing from the battery? Most cars go to the starter with an aux cable to the alt. From the sounds of it, the 996 goes to the alt, then to the starter?

Any help?

thanks!

Likely the cable but search for the user Ahsai on Rennlist. He has a lot of troubleshooting steps you can work through before doing the labor to change the cable.
