I wanted to remove the Radio Support Frame to better secure the double din cage to it off the car. It looks like there are a few exposed Torx head screws on it. Is that all there is to it? Or are there any other clips?

Thanks for the response! I'll pull that part tonight. I want to make it dead center, rigid and flush. I'll also be zip tiring the wires, replacing a few tap connectors with solder and wrapping the wire with fabric tape.

To pull a double din you need a set of radio keys. They slide in on the left and right side to release the cages lock. Then it pulls right out. This is assuming you already removed the horseshoe trim.

It may depend on the brand of your head unit. I bought these for a Kenwood for $2 and they worked great. They took about 2 weeks to arrive.

I would go to ebay and search for double din keys for whatever brand you have have.

Will post a before and after on the head unit wiring and install in case it is helpful.

 

Rewired the head unit. Over the years all the tap splice add ons built up . The head unit had trouble sliding in and frankly it looked like a high school install.

So I shortened all the wires, solder connected all, shrink wrapped each connection and felt tape wrapped everything. Also added a t-connector to power the front and rear cameras and to turn on the amp. The entire set-up plugs in with connectors except for the RCAs, Antennas and Mic.







Now on to rigid mounting the cage and making the trim ring match the head unit (gloss black)

 

Install done. Kenwood DDX9903s with capacitive touchscreen and Apple CarPlay.
