Plenum Questions

Greetings 6 Speeders,

Thank you for all your questions and responses. Let me take a moment to clarify a few things since this has become such a hot topic and the plenums are such a new and unique product.

1. Installation time in about 30 minutes on your first install and probably half that during your second installation. The plenums on naturally aspirated applications install VERY easily and VERY quickly. We have installed over 40 plenums and have had only glowing results.

2. Many of the older dyno sheets from older webpages had earlier model plenums installed, some even prototypes. These product have gone through many design and manufacturing evolutions. The latest version is the one that is now available. It incorporates the equilization holes, epoxy coating and casting improvements.

3. All plenums "should" provide improved performance with any and all other mods. We haven't tested the plenum with any after market super chargers but the plenum allows for greater air flow so fundamentally it should enhance any forced induction system. Improved air flow is always a good thing whether it's stock or tuned.

I also know that a picture is worth a thousand words so hopefully this illustration will help simplify how the plenum improves and speeds air flow.

Again, we welcome any and all questions or thoughts on this subject. Please feel free to post, PM or contact us by phone. Thanks again for all the feedback and postings.

996cabova, the evo intake should take less than 1/2 hour and their is no labor associated withe the ecu flash as far as I know. you just pay the 995 iI believe. 2- 3 hours labor sounds like a ripoff....

it's not that bad [the sound] its more like a swish sound at first you will think it's something loose in your exhaust but then you get used to it. as for the gains well im sure it does something but not something that will shock you ......... the only mod that made a real diffrence was the sc

3.6 Liter Dyno Run

Here you go 6 Speeders,

Below are the dyno sheets from yesterdays (March 5th) dyno pulls for the 996 3.6 liter application. Notice the highlighted figures at the bottom of the graphs. There was 1 ½ hours in between runs. During this time the engine needed to cool down to allow for the plenum installation and the car needed to be driven for about 5 miles on the dyno to allow for the DME adaptation. The temperature actually increased by almost 7 degrees when it was time to test the plenum. All things considered, these were very promising results with much stronger gains then previous plenum versions. Thanks again to all the 6 Speed members for all the positive contributions to this thread.

996 Plenum Photos

Greetings Again 6 Speeders,

The dyno charts above were conducted on a chassis dyno, not an engine dyno. Upgrading your ECU and installing a plenum are completely different mods. They are both great and work well together or separate, but one does not necessitate the other. I've also attached some images of the IPD Plenum compared to the factory stock plenum. I hope a picture is worth a thousand words and helps to visualize the plenum purpose and function. In case you went sure the IPD is aluminum and the factory is the black plastic one. Thanks again 6 Speeders.
