Nissan GT-R Superior?

I just read through the May edition of "Road & Track" as the magazine cover states, "Outrageous!", Nissan's GT-R "Spanks" Porsche 911 Turbo & Corvette Z06."

Further reading details out a 5 second beating at Buttonwillow configuration #13 by the Nissan over both. Please tell me that it was the "tires"?

I don't follow this stuff too much, so I was blown away by this claim. Can someone offer an explaination please?

Search is your friend.

The car was driven my Nissan ex-factory driver Steve Millen, who has Nissan hand delivering the GT-R to his shop soon if not already along with all the other newest Nissan cars. Go figure.

The 997 TT beat the Z06. And a mag editor from Car and Driver beat Millens time in the Z06 by one second. I think that says enough. It wasnt tires. Be just as good to have Lou G. drive all three, only not in favor of the GT-R.

The GT-R is harder to drift than a 997 TT or 997 GT3, therefore if you are trying to drift, the GT-R will consequently get a faster lap. Normal apexing and driving not included.

See Evo and Car magazine for details.

I think that the Magazine/Television reviews of both cars should be taken with a grain of salt.. We will eventually see the real-world capability (and comparability) of both cars once they start making their ways into the public domain (and your local track).

I thought we already discussed this and we all generally agreed the GT-R was superior and we were all going to hock our TTs, buy Nissans and join GTRforum.net

Yeah. I've already started taking Japanese lessons so I can read the instrument panel on my pre-NA release import. What's "fugly" in Japanese anyway?

Magazines would not sell if they did not have catchy headlines. On saying that if you believe the magazines it would seem the GTR has the turbo beat in many a performance category. In the hands of most drivers the GTR it seem is easier to get the most out of on the track hence the stats we are reading. In any case it will be a drivers race no matter if your in a Z06, GTR or 997TT.

I'm still studying Japanese, but I think it's pronounced "GT-R".

Supposedly, it will beat the 997 0-60 and ties the 997 for the .25 mile.

To me, I like it. I don't really like the looks, but you'll be able to mod the hell out of it and have an insanely fast car for 1/4 of the price for comparbale performance.

Again, I'm liking this a lot but love the 997tt. This might be a tad faster and perform at the highest levels possible today, but not a porsche...

Agreed. A monkey would seem to be able to drive it quickly. Kudos. Don't know how many of you have seen one in person yet. I did last week at the NY Auto Show. Did a quick swing through after work. The GT-R stand was mobbed with kids in sideways hats and Mr Potato Head combinations of facial hair (no offense, just an observation). GT-R looks pretty unique I'll admit and has some nice details. That said the thing is gigantic. Has a certain 1988 Supercharged Thunderbird element to it.

Yes, but the difference in lap times is not by a small margin here - it is a huge difference! It is unlikey they can be off by that much, thus the bold claims such as this:

Yes, but I want to see how it handles all three meals at different tracks with chefs used to cooking with Vettes and TT's. Let's see how it handles 24 hours worth of meals at Daytona or Le Mans. I 'd like to see how it cooks under US specifications, also.
