Collective Wisdom on Clear Bras?????

Just got my midnight blue TT. Would like to stick a clear bra on it, but wondering what everyone's experiece has been? What percentage of TT owners put one on? PROS and CONS? Is Ventureshield the way to go?

Many thanks.

Put one on...it'll save your front end and keep you from hating yourself when you prevent your first chip.

On a dark car, you won't be able to hide it as well as a light car...but get one regardless.

don't get so hung up on which brand - find the best installer you can first and then research the pros and cons of each film. A bad job will look like absolute crap.

I do not have a turbo but rather a black C2S(guess that is irrelevant) but on black,EVERY person who came to see my car commented/and asked how I got the scratch !
Not a scratch but the edge of the "shield".
I peeled it off personally. My car is just a sunny day cruiser so rock chips will not happen as much as maybe a daily driver but most people will not comment on chips(as they are sort of expected on a car).
If you can live the "line" it defiantely stops the chips !
Just my $.02

You won't see a line if you get your entire front fender, front hood, and bumper covered.

To each his own. I own a white 997tt and I decided against it due to the fact it will eventually yellow a little and my car is not a daily driver. I have already got my first rock chip but I fixed it myself with a kit from drcolorchip. It turned out quite well and I will just go this route. My .02 cents.

I have the 3m on mine, great installer, but constantly aware it's there (Lines, etc). I wouldn't do it again.

I did alot of research on this and have some other threads on this with lots of comments. I ended up with Ventureshield (3m will yellow) and wrapped the full hood, bumper and fenders. I also wrapped the illuminated door sills, headlights, mirrors, rear fenders, wheel wells, etc. Very happy with it - you can't even tell it is there (and I have no rock chips or scratches!) Make sure you get a really good installer who wraps all the edges. I won't be without it ever again.

My friend has a venture shield on his white gt3.......it's already yellow(~1yr old), so they all will yellow to a certain degree on a light car.

I am told it is actually the glue on the 3m?. That is what Porsche installs when it arrives on the rear fenders - it yellows sometimes before it arrives here! On silver it gets looking really bad too (all the cars at the Porsche Sport Driving School in Birmingham have it from the factory and all were yellow). Read my other threads and you will see lots of comments on 3m and yellowing problems.

They all will yellow at some point, some worse than others. You guys don't see much sunlight up there in the N.W. so you may stay clear longer.

3m has now bought out Ventureshield. So the new 3M product is the best film according to my clear bra guy. It is very thin and much less orange peel effect than the old stuff. That being said, it is great for highway driven cars, esp that are dark colors. The only color I may have reservations about putting it on would be white. As it does yellow and is more noticable on white than any other color scheme.
