That really, *really* is a terrible, cringe-worthy comparison to make on so many levels and not in your favour. Even at basic, film level knowledge, you are a wee bit wrong.
An embarrassing analogy, nothwithstanding the GT-R's nickname.
Unless of course your only experience is a US remade hash? God forbid there could be a sequel...
In the original black and white movie, he was killed by the "oxygen destroyer", the deal that turned the fish to skeletons. I was watching the original, the one with "Perry Mason", back in the late 50's as a young child living in Los Angeles. I saw the latest remake with "Ferris Beuller", not so good. In the original, there was no baby hatching out of the egg after Godzilla's demise to take her place.

And in response to you querry on the DR, it was two different drivers on two different days, a nice sunny day for the GT-R and a gloomy overcast day for the GT2. I dont know the other guy, but Harris seems a pretty good driver. But still two different guys on very different days.

While Porsche and their loyal fans are wasting time on a Nissan, the good ole American Iron has already trounced their latest and greatest Porsche GT2. This is probably the worst thread I've ever seen here (maybe). It's like you got a bunch of guys arguing over 4th and 5th place, even if you win the argument you're still out of the medals. If Porsche really wants to prove something then I'd suggest to them to look ahead at the Viper ACR and Corvette ZR1 who are taking them for a walk. Beat the ACR and ZR1 and it'll end the whole thing since we all know no GTR is gonna do that. Hell, I'd take a 996 Turbo over a GTR anyday but it sure is funny to see a thread about the GTR constantly at the top. Almost seems to me like some of you so-called Porsche guys are pretty insecure about yourselves and your car. Would be so much nicer to see useful and informative threads about a fabulous car like the 997 Turbo.

Porsches claim was never about who won, they questioned the validity of the GTR time. The ACR and ZR1 achieved their time through obvious means i.e. light weight, wide and grippy tires, proper down force, brute power and stupendous torque.
The supposed improved aftermarket gears for the GTR tranny from Animal House Racing are reportedly going to cost a mere $10k in addition to the loss of warranty.

I have not seen a ZR1 in person, but I have seen an ACR. It is really a "Cup" car that can be street legal if the aero parts are removed. Just to expound on your point Porsche already sells Cup cars that will outperform those two factory racers as well.

Some folks are missing the forest because they are focusing on the trees. While Corvette production is slowed or haulted, and GM and the other two are struggling to stay in existence, Porsche is doing exactly what they need in order to grow and prosper. They have just given us an excellent sportscar that gives us better performance on less fuel and pollutants, and they are developing a high performance 2+2 sedan that is going to make them lots of money just like the Cayenne does. Not only that, Porsche has just taken control of Europes largest car manufacturer and the result is their stock has become much more valuable. So what if Porsche called Nissan out on an obvious lie. They have every right to. Porsche are focusing their vast resources on giving us the kind of high performance cars that will survive under the new CAFE rules and keep them in the black for years to come, while others are worrying about 'ring times set by cars they can't sell. Porsche continues to prosper and has it's eyes on the future while the big three are struggling just to stay alive.
This thread has been the biggest AD campaign for every mnfr that Porsche has to compete with. I've learned more about the GTR, ZR1, Viper ACR here than anywhere else. Sadly, I no longer have any desire to own a 911 Turbo. I'm a sucker for marketing, racing, laptimes etc. Now I have to save up for the GT2 Back to the subject. I think that given the test results from the mags show that the GT2 has been faster on other tracks I do believe that Nissan fudged the results somehow. I'm in agreement with Porsche that it's probably the tires. As for the turbo, cheating or no cheating, the TT has been beat. It's sad that it's no longer considered when testing these new cars. Long live the GT2
HUGH - what a joke of your comment. Sorry to say. If you haven't driven a GT2 and now considering it by these AD's you sir are not a real buyer.
What is your experience in driving to say that you know how to handle the rear engine design of Porsche? I am not an expert and I can tell you that a 200hp Porsche is more than enough for me to learn from. You want to step up to the plate to get a GT2 because you heard enough about them here? HA..

Cheating = BEAT?
I smell another TROLL.
I can't handle it. That's why I want it. For me at least that's the appeal. There's no plate. Just money. Historically my career determines the car I drive. My talent however determines which bike I take to the track because I can end up in the hospital. What I'm trying to say is that I used to go to Porsche and build my 911 turbo for fun. Now I skip it and build the GT2

You should have started another whole new thread on how Porsche is the absolute best auto manufacturer and reasons why they're going to continue to be the best.
Either way, the GTR is a great car for what it is. The Porsche is obviously the more desirable one. This thread is just getting too ridiculous and off topic at times. I'll just end with I do still believe the Nissan is capable of a 7:38 ring time but not 7:29. It has proven to be consistently faster than the standard 997 Turbo but falls short of the GT2. The 997 Turbo however is still the much nicer car overall regardless of lap times.
