My 08's first service was at 12,500 miles. It cost $950k but I had them replace the plastic front spoiler since mine was mangled. That thing is about $200 from the dealer plus incremental labor charge so call it $250. Take that away from $950 and it's $700 so sounds like your dealer is spot-on.

I see you are near to me. Coincidentally I had the same service indicator come on this week and called Reeves, Tampa, who I have used in the past on my other P-Cars. They quoted $815 to do all the things you mentioned as well as a DME check. It was all inspect/check this and that.

I would be interested if it was same dealer or perhaps Bert Smith as surely there should be some price continuity or am I just being naive.

Purchased my 07 Guards Red towards end of last year.

I did an oil change at 5K . Now it is true that technicians have spent an enormous amount of time with my car so if it needs anything they wil let me know .

At 750 you can negotiate with other dealerships . It may be worth the drive .Then go back to the service manager with the paperwork that cost you less and show him why he needs to do better for you the next time .

Agreed, especially for $750. Thanks, bbywu, for posting the service detail.

My Porsche is at Reeves.

I tried Bert Smith once. And didnt have a good experience, so I wanted to give Reeves a shot.

I'll be picking up the 997TT today. I'll post up the invoice on here and have you guys see what they did.

Yearly $700+ inspections are pure profit for the dealer, change the oil yearly (or per mileage) and flush the brakes every two years plus replace the air filter when needed and your good to go.

The dealer will find problems and bring them to your attention regardless, I dont need them to tell me my wiper blades are bad or tire wear is uneven at $100 an hour labor - i can see that $hit myself.

Stuttgart in SoCal will do the oil service for about $200 vs. the dealers $300+. Some dealers are running specials, its rare, but does not hurt to ask. You all probably negotiating like labor union officials during the purchase, does not hurt to ask the service advisor either

I agree...

The only thing yearly service helps with is TSBs. I don't think publicly informs their customers that there are active TSBs out there...thankfully many of our sponsors will let us know.

Porsche changed the first service from 2 years to 1 year from '07 to '08. I just had mine done Tuesday at 1 year & 3700 miles. Cost was 196.00 (2 hours @ 98.00/hour) plus 23.28 for the filter, .77 for a seal ring, 3.99 for brake cleaner & 9 quarts of oil @ 6.75 for a total of 284.79. They gave me a very "pretty" multi-colored form called "The Porsche Multi-Point Inspection Report." Form # PNA000 012 ed. 05/08

Brought the 2007 turbo in a few months ago when it was 1.5 yrs old (5,000 miles).

They charged me $200 for the entire inspection and oil change.

Porsche of Melbourne (FL)

i was very satisfied not being gouged by them.

My light came on and I had just had the oil changed at 8K so the only additional stuff per the manual was checks, cabin air filter a road test and flush and change break fluid. The oil change was $156 with PCA discount and the state inspection was $36 (same as any corner gas station)They reset the light it doesn't need the cabin air filter and I can get the break fluid done for $99 as apposed to $220 at the dealer.

The annual service is for people who like paying triple for an oil change.

I hate taking my Porsche in to the dealer. If I had a Laptop/code reader I would have done it myself!

The total bill was $878.04

Labor................$488.70
Parts................$229.59
GOG..................$72.50
Shop Suppl.........$29.50
Tax...................$57.45

I also told my service consultant to exchange the air to nitrogen in my tires. WHen I recived my car the front left tire was 6 psi lower than the rest. I told him "Im paying $878 for this and you cant even get the PSI right?" He got embarrased and took my car to the back & filled em' back up. LOL
