Valvoline? You must be kidding. Is that on the approved list now? Mobil 1 would be the norm, and $6-7/qt. Yes, appears you are getting hosed. Did you have an appt and call in advance, and ask them before you came in? Might be worth shopping around. Also ask if they offer a PCA discount, assuming you are a member.

The 07 has a 20K/2 year interval. My light went on also, but I had it reset. Follow your manual. Your service department should have known that. Walk away.

Bobby,
There must have been a change, since my 2008 Turbol *does* call for 1 year service.
Porsche997TT,
I don't have the service paper with me now, but the one year service is more than just an oil change (which costs about 175 - 225 at a Porsche dealer). Not advocating one way or another whether you should do this service, but if you want to follow recommendation and if you want to use a Porsche dealer, then yes $750 sounds about right (don't remember exact number now - I'll check later).
I am surprised to hear Valvoline; must be another change?

Hi Can...
There was a change...I think renntech.org had a thread about this. Nothing changed in engine design...only the service interval changed. No one is sure why.
I'd still advocate what is written in your manual.

My 20k service was about 650, so that's about right.

I got hosed for $600 on my first annual check up. Hadn't even hit 5k miles yet. Makes me feel a little better. After I got my tints, roof spoiler, and dension installed, the shop suggested i use them for annual oil changes and service. They have all the tools to rest the computer and can measure tire wear with the best of 'em.
good luck finding a place to do it cheaper.

Aside from an oil change, most of the annual or semi-annual services on new cars these days is just a bunch of fluff. A bunch of "inspect" this & "check" that items (for example, check windshield washer fluid, check coolant level, check tire tread) that anyone with even a bit of car care knowledge can do.
Ask your local Buick dealer what he would charge for a similar "annual service". I think you'll find your Porsche dealer is in the ball park. Of course you can get a oil and filter change from an independent much cheaper, but he won't perform all the inspections the dealer would unless you want to pay for them.
But you definitely don't want to take your car to a Jiffy Lube, Oil Can Henry's or some place similar just to save a few bucks!
