SPI 997 GT2 60 - 130 in 6.06 s - first drive

i stopped in at SPI today to check the progress of my 997 GT2. i was amazed at the progress that had been made. i drove my GT2 for the first time today and was amazed at the drivability. There were no glitches and drove smoother than stock with much better throttle response. i couldn't help put plug in the drift box to see what she would do. Please remember, the goal of this project was to build the ultimate street car that i can drive to any gas station and pump in 93 octane gas. Unfortunately my driving was a bit rusty as i haven't driven her all winter. But she still ran a 6.06 second from 60 to 130 mph on 93 octane pump gas. i think with a bit of practice, she definitely has a mid to high 5 second run in her. Anyways, i couldn't be happier with the results as she absolutely pulls like a freight train right up the the 7300 rpm redline. She is still undergoing the final stages of tuning, but so far it looks like we have a winner with this combination!

absolutely. that is why the combination is setup the way it is. if you look at the dyno chart, it is a smooth and predictable power delivery right to redline. it still maintains all the characteristics of the stock GT2 but just add alot more power. here is the dyno chart and video...

never timed 60 - 130 pulls on sledgehammer with 93 octane. sledgehammer was only timed using race gas.

currently the car uses an electronic valve controller to run more boost. we have not tried race gas yet, but i would imagine i can run at least 3 to 5 psi more boost with race gas. chances are i will run 93 octane pump gas 99% of the time. if i am tracking the car and the track has race gas, of course i would use the race gas and turn up the boost for maximum performance. but i will use it 99% of the time on the street.

Sweet work Tym, Jo, and DK! This is amazing that this is on pump gas! I hope my 800 pump gas 997TT nets me some ><6 second 60-130's. Great work guys and even makes my wait for my SPI 800 that much longer.

So 93 Octane running on 1.4bar is ok with stock internals? Not pulling timing?
