I was told in the Porsche it makes little difference in light as there is a clear plastic looking cover over the front that reduces direct light output going forward, built in to the lens. Andreas at Hoen says however the dled4 is a bit higher tech in that the polarization deal, i.e. having to rotate the bulb if it does not ignite, is a thing of the past, they have another chip that fixes that, slap it in any way and go.
are there any problems with the lisence plate LEDs?
-Do they trigger an error message?
-They don't burn too hot?

No errors, they are high powered led on a heat sink looking device which uses 5w of energy so temp is like the stock tube looking bulbs and the car does not sense a problem as the draw is the same as a regular bulb you just replaced. At 5w a bulb gets hot to the touch, ask me how I know! Learned that a long time ago and wont make the mistake again.

ok. I'm not as well experienced as others here, but I just got done reading horror stories about $400 housing replacements and no warranty assistance from the LED supplier. I don't have to replace parts and have the supplier tell me the lisence plate light is not aligned correctly.

I think that with any mod you have to be prepared to pay to play if its ECU flash, suspension, lights, hids and the like. People often ask me why I mod the cars I own, 99% are happy with the way it is from day one, but if your at all worried about dealers / warranty, breaking parts blah blah blah def. dont change anything that potentially can cause a headache.
i will say that goes for everything except suspension on this car, stock alignment, nevermind the rest of it, is just terrible

I disagree. I think what you say holds for people who build 700+ hp cars, but for those who only have the appatite for light mods should be able to expect light bulbs not to melt housings, and a descent warranty. I'm not new to modding, or paying for it. The Cobra in my signature has had 5 engines in its time, and I never once complained to the engine builder or tuner. But if a lightbulb melts a clip or wire, the seller damned-well better expect to hear from me.
I'm willing to accept risk for performance modifications, not for LEDs. If you're the seller, can tell me the lisence plate LEDs aren't going to do anything funky in getting hot, or trip a light, I'm game, but if there's a chance of replacing $400 worth of parts because of an LED, I'm not interested.
