I have been thinking about this and not sure whether to go ahead. I might just do it now.
What is the typical dealer LABOR charge for this please? Hours and $ please. TIA

I am a bit bummed now. The tech at the dealership told me not to get it because it messes with the synchros... what the heck!? you all love it and i don't got it.
I think this is a theoretical problem more than anything else. Unless your banging through the gears at 10/10ths everyday, I wouldn't worry about your synchros.
Get it!
It's definitely worth it! It also happens that we're having a sale on the EVOMS short shifter right now. What better time to go for it?! Check out my post in the 997TT vendor classifieds section...

I've never heard of a factory one breaking...that's news to me.
It was like $750 installed and worth every penny...just think about how often you shift...you get enjoyment out of each one. Now I haven't tried it in the winter yet...and I hear it gets notchy in cold weather...but we shall see...

Anyway, basically we're offering the EVOMS shifter at 10% off with free ground shipping in the US. In stock, ready to ship.

The OEM shifter is Porsche. The B&M unit is nice, but they're not the same. I mean, they create the same end result, but physically they are two different units.
I should elaborate....the OEM Porsche unit is pre-assembled so it's a plug n play. The B&M and EVOMS units require you to utilize the stock shift assembly and rebuild it with the new shift linkage.
