Can't remember where I read it, but some mag or website was predicting that some roadtesters would get the car under 3.0 seconds 0-60. Amazing.

They said it in this article too.
I'm more astonished with 128 mph TRAP SPEED!!!!!!!!
Vbox or not, that's insane......

The author got it wrong on the GT3 engine: it's based on the GT1 engine, not the new engine that the new TT is using. Also, some of the stuff he writes about the oil sump and lower engine location doesn't make sense.

I noticed that too, but I hope he at least can read the 128 mph right. If that is right, it's crazy. I think people will get over the old engine pretty fast like that.

What we need to know is the TQ ratings for the PDK clutches. After that, how reliable is the new motor compared to the GT1 motor. If both respond well to mods then this new 997 is a performance bargin!
Would it be worth the cost of swapping out the new motor for the GT1?

No, the motor is not likely a better or stronger motor. The GT1 makes all the power you could need. It comes with a weight penalty, but only 26 lbs. That is not what makes this Turbo so much faster. You'd need a heck of a lot more stuff on the car to compete with the new Turbo.
PDK retrofit might be a better option, though it's still not for me. I'd like to know how the manul performs in comparison.

That is an amazing 0-60 time, but there is too much unknown for this motor. We will have to see how much power it can handle from mods. How much power can the PDK hold before it gives out? I guess only time will tell.

I wonder if the clutches can be easily replaced on PDK...or does the unit need to be pulled like the GT-R. Big difference in cost.
