Grinding sound when shutting engine off?

Everytime I shut the engine off, there is some sort of grinding sound that is real quick coming from the back of the car. My car is completely stock aside from BMC filter. its an '07 with 22k miles. I will get a video clip soon. It doesn't bother me but I was just wondering if this was normal, or if anybody else has encountered this?

You must have a 6sp car? Maybe a dual mass flywheel you hear.

nevert00fast can only hope to improve
My car does it, but it's a 6spd. My old M3 and Z06 did it too, it's the clutch/flywheel. If I clutch in while shutting off it doesn't do it. Not sure about the TIP though.

my car does it too, I have a manual.

It almost sounds like a fuel heater from a diesel, but it's not diesel. I've never thought anything of it, but would be interesting to know what it is.

On a 6speed, I would expect it to do it. On a tip - it's kinda odd. I will try to get a video by Sat.

Hows its going Adam? Yeah it must be normal if others are encountering it. Yeah it really is quick, only like a second like you said.

I think I know what you are talking about. It's like a 1/4 second noise that isn't necessarily a grinding noise, but a mechanical noise as if a valve or solenoid is moving. Unfortunately. I have no idea what it is.
