997tt sparkplug DIY - aka torture yourself

Yes I think it would help. It would in particular aid in getting the coil pack harnesses off, the compressor intake ducts free, and to aid in access to those damned VTG mounting bolts.

As I understand it, the 996tt guys upgrade to the 997tt coilpacks. I am not sure that the coilpacks are the limiting factor for us, nor if there is any certain life expectancy from them. I hear that there is a high failure rate amongst Cayenne coilpacks though, which makes me worry about this as an upcoming issue.

Thanks, from what I heard, the modded coilpacks will extend the life of the modded car's plugs and the prices are not so bad. After reading and seeing your thread, I only want to change the plugs ONCE!!!

Holy crap! I decided I would never do this after reading step 1.
However, reading all the way through (just to look at the pretty pictures) you describe a problem that is very similar to what I am experiencing. You have convinced me that I should have the plugs changed before I buy a spare DME and ship the RUF DME back to the Fatherland. I will let the dealer 'jerk-off the hamster' though.
Thanks for a great write-up...and pretty pictures.
