Dyno Testing - Stage 1 EVOMSit Software Completed

After some more fine tuning today, we are ready to begin real world testing of our stage 1 software tune. With software alone, we increased the power output by 42 AWHP and 47 AWTQ on our 2010 PDK car with 100% 91 octane fuel. We will begin street testing this week followed by track testing this weekend at Firebird main. We will be testing some other hardware components in conjunction with the software and will update the progress as we move forward. This weekend will be the first of many track events to test the limits of the new DFI engine. More details to follow.

Here is a baseline dyno vs our EVOMSit stage 1 software - tested on 91 octane fuel.

Yes indeed. Some very long nights. I have been working the same hours as when you had me up at your place This engine makes excellent TQ and at low RPMS. Pretty flat from 3K-5K RPMS just like factory. I was able to stablize the boost which eliminated the HP/TQ/Boost dip at ~3800 RPMS. Should be a fun weekend on the track with the added power

Awesome numbers man. Todd, what is the difference between the new TT's vs. the older generation as far as Turbos (VTG's)?

Thanks Art. The turbos are almost the same. They have eliminated the BRV from the compressor housing. I will be taking a closer look at them after this weekend and report back. How you been?

Thanks!. The DFI is MUCH better to tune on 91 octane than the standard injection. I will test some different octane levels tomorrow to see how much affect the octane plays into things at this level.

GTsilver2010 has a spectacular aura aboutGTsilver2010 has a spectacular aura aboutGTsilver2010 has a spectacular aura about
any way

to track the speed of the pdk tranny and see how fast its shifting under stock ecu and also under your tune?

Reason I ask is to see if the PDK is shifting the same under the additional load.

Also how are you going to test to make sure that this tune is okay? I know you are going to the drag strip and maybe track to test but how do you determine if the tune will affect the life of the motor.

Again sorry to ask so many questions but I'm coming from the benz world where there have been quite a few problems with tunes.

I just want to know when its safe to add a tune!

Good to see you pushing the limits already. Been alright bro, can't complain, working paying the bills like everyone. My Mom's health is not good right now so I've taken some time off from cars and may sell the car soon All my energy and efforts went into this car and now.....Life changes things but family comes first. Hope family is good man. BTW, the 1/4 mile run in that 997TT was sick. You really pulled all of the power out of that one How is Joe? You guys going to the Mile this season?

I have about 1000 miles of data logs from the stock car that I collected during my trip from sharkwerks to AZ. I also have the data logs from my time tuning the car on the dyno as well during my daily commute to and from EVOMS. These logs help me gauge what Porsche determined are safe parameters and I tune accordingly. There is no way to tell 100% what the limits are with this engine but this is the best place to start. Testing a mild tune that retains all of the OEM safety features and operates within the safe EGT /AFR range without drastically increasing the timing and boost. From this point, we continue to test, test and test.

This weekend I will be taking the car on the road course and will be pushing it 10/10ths for multiple 30 minute race sessions. During the track testing, I will data log to see how prolonged heat and abuse affects performance, etc. Another important function of making reliable power is to reduce exhaust heat. These engines run extremely high EGT temps, sometimes in excess of 950 degrees C. By reducing exhaust restriction with high flow catalysts and sport exhaust, further improves engine efficiency and overall engine longevity. We will not release the software until we are confident that it is safe for the engine.

VTG Turbocharger Update

I did some research last night and spoke with a friend of mine in Germany. He told me that the 997.2 TT VTG turbos have the hot side from the GT2. This is good news and I will confirm this in a few days.

That's great news bro and thanks for the info. Do they also use the same concept as the 997 GT2 plenum? I also heard that the new engines sustain much lower IAT's vs. the older ones. I really want to see your opinion on the PDK side. 1/4 Mile run and Vbox will show all of it
