MODDED TT vs Ninja 636

Well, tittle says it all; im going to run my buddy on his 07 Ninja 636... My mods are Evoms intercoolers, Evomsit-93 octane software, 65mm turbos, upgraded TCU, BBI coil packs and ill be running on my stock rims. Also my TT is a Tiptronic... Any thoughts?

How are you running him? From a roll or a dig? If its a dig the tip will help some. If its a roll the tip will hurt. How fast will you be able get up to ( higher speeds favor the car)
I have no idea how it will turn out. Most times a modded TT can take a 600 bike from a roll but you are running VTGs and a tip so its not so cut and dried.

I'll have to race the same type of bike when I put my Tials on. My buddy keeps on mocking me and I will have to race...from a roll obviously.

I have no experience whatsoever, so I can only wish you good luck!!

Depends how good your buddy can ride and what type of race you setup. It takes a very experienced rider to launch these types of bikes well. I'd think you could take him out of the whole with a good break-boost launch in your tip.

Are you going to the drag strip or will this be a vacation race while in Mexico...LOL

Be safe

Somewhere in Mexico we were able to line up about 4 runs... To make it more interesting the bike had full bolt-ons he said, which i cant imagine being more than an exhaust..? First run was around 40 roll, me in boost in 2nd gear, and we took off.. It was very close untill the TT was mid 3rd gear where i had a length or two, and up through 4th gear i would just pull even harder and had about 5 lengths when I let off. The 2nd run was from a first gear roll at about 10 mph.. all the way up to 175mph.. The bike was neck and neck with me through 1st and 2nd gear, and as soon as i shifted into 3rd, same results with about 2-3 lengths and ending up about 5-6 lengths on him by 170-180 ish..

clueless why he got beat by a porsche..he wants to run again.. this time ill fill'er up 100 octane and raise the boost a little bit. I will try to video the runs next week when we go back down to Mexico

Thanks for the update...I'm sure those results still have you smiling.

Your friend needs some help. Please let him know I'm selling my '07 R1 with only 3,750 miles. Could be a little closer race for him.

Explain to him it's because 600's simply aren't fast.

Nice kill...

Why would a Tip hurt? Why would a VTG hurt? This guy is making quite a bit of power enough to get those results. The Tip is faster than a manual for these kind if pedal to the metal races. The VTG with the mods that he has will handle that bike without a problem. Hell my M5 would've pulled on the bike too.

I was just curious about the Tip and the VTG comments.

They didnt make a 636 in 2007

The last 636 was in 2006, I had one, with pipe, power commander, -1 gearing, and air filter it could muster up a mid 10 second quarter mile at ~130ish mph.

Where does your time fall? Most people with 636's run 10.9+ more likely to be 11.3

Since I said it, I will answer...

Tips are great from a dig. Unless a 6sp driver is an expert, he will not probably catch the tip car before a quarter mile or so (given two evenly powered cars)

Tips are notably weaker than 6sp in roll races given the increased weight, lower gear ratios, and increased drivetrain losses of tips. It takes quite abit more power to make a tip car competitive in the 60-130 zone that roll ons occur in. On the 60-130 list look how few tips there are below 6s compaired to 6sps. Look at the fastest cars. They are all 6sp. The fastest tips are about 3/4 second slower than the fastest 6sp. If you take the argument beyond 130 mph the 6sp dominate even more. The other problem with tips in high hp application is slippage and outright failure above 550-600whp. It you go above that zone the tip has to be rebuilt to hold the power.

As far as VTGs, you are simply limited on the max power these turbos can produce even with larger wheels. If you want to go beyond a certain level (I am not sure of exact number but guess most would be under about 650 whp) you have to go to an aftermarket turbo like a GT3076 or a least a hybrid porsche turbo K24 like a 24/20g.

The race with the 600 Ninja was very close. The car could not pull appreciably on the bike until higher speeds were reached in third gear. 600 bikes are not all that fast in roll races. I suspect the outcome would have been less favorable if the opponent had been on a liter bike...

Any idea what your car makes on the dyno? How about 60-130? I'm curious b/c I'm probably going to go with 65mm upgraded vtg wheel on pump gas (94 octane).

I don't think 65mm VTGs make more power than 63, chech the 60-130 numbers

For those who say manuals are faster, they might be at high speeds, but not in the 1/4 mile and 60-130.

Yes the tip will be sliping at 600WHP plus, what about a stock clutch on a manual?

his was also an 06' ; my mistake.. with those similar mods the bike did seem like a mid-10 sec 1/4 mile because the Porsche was RIGHT next to it and maybe couple feet or lengths infront by the 1/4 mile mark, and then after that is when I started to pull harder and harder making a larger gap.. Love that 636 !
