I think it is indeed a turbo...with a retractable 993-ish wing when deployed, and probably back to the rear reflector strip, ala 993tt.

 

They cant be making such cool wings on gt3 cars and come up with a stealth wing on turbos

imho, the car in ur pictures uses a cover to 1. hide the new retractable wing and 2. to maybe simulate the downforce of the 991`s retractable wing.
Why should a 991 Carrera get even bigger air intakes than a 997 TT? there have been photos of 991 carrera prototypes around with fake air intakes,
those air intakes were just stickers, but the ones above are for real.

no, it actually is a bit longer and wider BUT i heard that the roof of the 991 is lowered by ~20mm,
maybe that´s the reason.

 

20 mm is ~ 3/4 of an inch... Hardly noticeable.

I'll bet it is simply a Carrera or S or the likes.

I don't think it's a carrera. It has to be a Turbo with these huge side vents.

 

Is there a real benefit gained from relocating the wing mirrors ala Ferrari 458 Italia? Or is it just a cosmetic touch?
