Aside from the self leveling,

Can anyone help describe the process of swapping ballasts from a 997.1 to a 997.2? Is it as easy as something like unscrewing 4 screws, or a few clips...or is the process more involved?

I have found a set of 997.2 lights, but they do not come with ballasts.

Guys, so I just talked to Betim at BBI. He says that the 997.1 ballasts will work with the 997.2 housings (As other people on this thread have mentioned) AND that the process is completely non-destructive and reversible, if you want to go back to OEM 997.1.

He also said the self-leveling DOES work. (I asked twice)

With that said, I'm going to go ahead and buy a set of 997.2 headlights without ballasts.

What do you think? Is it possible that the self-leveling will work? TW, have you had a chance to check yours?

does it need major mod or reprogram for self-leveling to work?

I wish I could tell you more, but that's all I know.. I'm not even sure myself if it's going to work, because correct me if I'm wrong, TW had his lights installed at BBI and he says his self-leveling doesn't work. I'm so confused.

TW - fun! Have a good trip! I may just have to take a chance and buy the lights, give it a try, and see what happens.

Someone knowledgeable please chime in... lol

Lol I'm sorry, I thought you were teasing. I was just joking as well. ☺️

Awesome! This is good news.

One last thing concerns me.

TW mentioned his self-leveling doesn't work. He used his old 997.1 ballasts.

Aisxos, in an earlier post you mentioned that you used the 997.2 ballasts. I wonder if your self-leveling works because you used the 997.2 ballasts?

Is there a difference between the two ballasts you think?

The set I'm looking at doesn't come with ballasts. I was thinking I could use my 997.1 ballasts, but I was also thinking I could buy a set of 997.2 ballasts, just to keep my 997.1 lights "complete" if I decide down the road to go back to oem.

Btw, Aisxos.. We need more pictures of your car from all angles. It's done PERFECT!

I will ask my mechanic what exactly he did and let you know as i have done this mod many months now and i dont remember...

Btw the 997.1 lights are old looking in my opinion... It has a sportier look with the 997.2 lights...

Aisxos, I think it's safe to say we would all appreciate hearing what your mechanic has to say on this, thank you

And I agree, these headlights are just designed to perfection. Retaining the classic oval silhouette while getting rid of the inner chrome and updating the look with some sweet detail.

Also, I just paid for the set of 997.2 lights!

Now, I'm looking for a set of 997.2 ballasts. Does anyone have the exact part # for the 997.2 ballasts?

I see a lot for sale on eBay but I'm not sure if they are 997.1 or 997.2 ballasts, and if I'm buying new, I may as well get the newer version.
