The solar spectrum consists of Visible Light (44%), Infrared (53%), and Ultraviolet (3%). Since infrared accounts for 53% of the solar spectrum, the performance of the product in this form of measure is quite important. Most dyed window films on the market only produce infrared rejection of 20%-30%. By comparison, PhotoSync blocks out up to 98.5% of infrared. The uniqueness of this product is that it's infrared rejecting capabilities improve as it gets hotter...

Some of the metallized films on the market will produce some impressive results; however, at the sacrifice of interfering with electronics. PhotoSync uses nano technology to produce significant heat rejection without affecting items like cell phone signals, radar detection signals, am / fm, etc.

Some have asked us how it compares to Huper and Madico's Ceramic. From our experience and perspective, both of these products will have distortions in the rear glass resulting from heat shrinking. It is absolutely necessary to heat shrink the window film to get it to conform to the curvature of the rear glass and the heat shrinking process distorts the composition of the ceramics. These will actually look like metallic distortions that can be seen in direct sunlight.

On PhotoSync, you will not get any of these issues. From direct experience these ceramic products also can affect keyless entry systems in BMWs and Audis and also affect other wireless transmission signals such as AM / FM, radar, etc.

Another difference is the heat rejection capabilities. The products above, based on our own testing, rejects approximately 80%-85% of IR whereas PhotoSync blocks out up to 98.5% of IR. This is extremely significant for those living in the hotter climates.

One of the most commonly asked question is how well does Spectra PhotoSync compare with other window tint products. So we decided to actually put Spectra PhotoSync to test against a 5% metallic limo tint. Now keep in mind, the shades we used for comparison is PhotoSync65, 55, and 45, so much lighter compared to limo tint at 5%. There is also one major difference - the limo tint has metals in it so it can produce some decent heat rejection that would be comparable to a lighter ceramic based tint:

Test: PhotoSync vs. a leading ceramic tint at 40%

 

Another test we conducted recently. With Prestige Film Technologies' Spectra PhotoSync Nano Window Film. We decided to document this test to show how well this product performs compared to a leading 30% ceramic tint. The previous test was done compared to a ceramic 40%. Test specs:

Spectra PhotoSync 65% (yes, we are using a lighter film to compare with a darker 30% ceramic tint)

To note, this video below shows how PhotoSync compares to a very popular ceramic 40% tint. However, this comparison was done at Spectra PhotoSync's pre-activation phase. In short, PhotoSync's Solar Adaptive Coating did not activate to produce maximum heat rejection, which means it will perform even better when exposed to solar energy for approximately 15 minutes.

Hi all. We just wanted to share our experience and test results for PhotoSync. We used a highly sophisticated equipment to conduct our own test between PhotoSync and Crystalline. This machine is capable of reproducing the solar spectrum and can calculate a solar product performance with respect to 3 important global standards:

1. EN410 (2011)
2. ISO9050 (2003)
3. NFRC 300 (2010) - this is the most important one for us window tinters because it is a USA standard
*this equipment is patented and a very accurate measuring tool we use.

Many films on the market boast high IR rejection #s, but they usually take their highest performing #s. Typically, the easiest performance #s to gain is in the short IR between 900-1000nm. This represents a very small portion of the IR spectrum, which ranges from 780-2500. In general, these other window tints perform not as well in the higher ranges. BTU meters typically run in the range from 900-1000, so it is not representative of its true performance. On the IR scale, the range between 1100-1600 is the spot that is critical to heat transmission. With this unit, it can measure two different values:

900-1000
780-1700+

We just installed window film to this Tesla Model S with 55 on the front two and 35 on all of the back windows. As you can see SPH55 blocks out 98% of IR (allowing 2% to transmit through) on the 900-1000 scale. With the higher spectral range 780-1700, it comes through with 97% IR rejection (allowing 3% to transmit through). Simplified results:

**quite consistent results and only 1% variance in the higher nanometer range

**as you can see the performance drops when you are looking at the higher IR range.

Before actually conducting our own test, we were a little perplexed as to why the TSER is so different between PhotoSync and Crystalline even though their IR numbers are close. Now it is clear. It is because on Crystalline, their performance drops when you reach the higher nm of the IR Spectrum whereas PhotoSync is highly consistent with high IRR (infrared rejection)

 

We are now carrying a new ceramic line, CeraLuxe Quantum Ceramic, made by Prestige Film Technologies - same company that manufactures Spectra PhotoSync. Performance is ahead of all ceramic tints on the market and also above ALL 3M tints, this is one spectacular film. It also does not affect radio or e-signals and does not have a reflective look. On this BTU meter test, we put 3 different films to test against CeraLuxe 73% - which is rated at 53% Total Solar Energy Rejection + an IRR (infrared rejection) rating of 88%. In the line up of other films, we used a 3% metallic limo tint, 35% hybrid nano-carbon film, and a 50% popular ceramic. The results for CLX are impressive.
