Strange stuff

The official word from the dealerships is that despite the fact that the part does in fact separate from the wheel, there is no replacement for it. From a reliable Porsche dealership and parts supplier...

Makes me a little more weary of replacing mine with CF, in the event I screw something up (which I do often).

If this is true, then it seems likely you could improvise and improve on the original--doesn't appear to be rocket science. There is no Porsche parts number on the piece posted above, and even the AM seller states that replacing it with original means replacing the entire wheel, paddles and all.

I'm done here, and disappointed too.

If you have sport wheel, turn on car, put in sport or sport plus mode and look in the cheesy little fogged up window on the left side of the airbag in the middle of your steering wheel.

If you are unimpressed with the cheesy little fogged up window on the left side of the airbag, then you know what to look for. It's just a cheesy, crappy little design, iyam.

How can i remove?

I mean if the trim is pulled off completely as show in the picture u posted, i feel the screen will be screwed into the steering wheel. then i feel it should be an easy cleaning job etc. or replace the screen film somehow.

If you are disassembling ur wheel, then please take pics and let us know if there is a solution! Pleassssssse!

Alright, I'm glad you are on attack mode! haha would like to know if there is a solution to this! disappointed at porsche's complication; should be an easy part to replace.

i have a buddy with a 2011 coupe just like mine. His "windows" are dark and crisp. No signs of the crap I see on mine. I took pics of mine today, will post here in a while. Dealership said they would replace my entire flipping wheel under warranty. geez

yes. My dealership is replacing the wheel. The whole thing. Wheel, trim, and paddles.

I still plan to take the new wheel apart when I get it to install CF trim, so if you are patient, I will tell you what I think the chances are of cleaning up the film underneath, based on the kind of access I discover during the process.

Mine is starting to look like this now too. Have seen a few people selling just the chrome surround on ebay so they must come off somehow. need to find out how?
