ALPHA Performance 997.2 Intercooler Tested and Released!

With the tremendous success of our Alpha Performance Porsche 997.1TT Intercooler System, we are pleased to announce the release of the Alpha Performance Porsche 997.2TT Intercooler System!

Porsche 997.2TT owners now have the opportunity to support their builds with the efficiency of our 5.5” thick intercooler cores, a 2.5” cast aluminum y-pipe, carbon fiber ducts and high strength custom 5-ply silicone couplers.

Just like the 997.1TT system, our 997.2TT system follows the same factory routing, drawing cool dense air from outside the vehicle and is designed to fit just like stock. With it, you can support over 1000 horsepower without the invasive modifications required by other intercooler kits on the market.

Massive reduction in intake air temperatures (IAT's)

A clean fit and quality finish is exactly what you have come to expect from the Alpha Performance line by AMS, but so are the numbers! Below is a side-by-side intake air temperature (IAT) comparison with the stock intercooler system done on the same day using identical ambient air temperatures and air flow velocity on our Mustang dynamometer. Our test vehicle for this comparison is a mildly modified 997.2TT outfitted with an aftermarket exhaust system and Alpha Performance Tune.

Our test vehicle experiences a remarkable decrease in IAT's throughout each gear with just the installation of the Alpha Performance 997.2TT Intercooler System.

Excellent gains throughout the entire powerband

Conclusive results indicate improved horsepower and torque gains throughout the entire powerband as can be seen in the graph below. Again, comparison testing was performed under the same ambient air temperatures with all other climate conditions being equal - all tested within hours apart!

Results shown in engine horsepower:

Maximum horsepower increase with the installation of the intercooler system resulted in a 30+hp gain with notable gains throughout the rpm range, while maximum torque increase netted a 30ft-lbs gain at 5750rpm with similar gains at just over 3000rpm! No adjustments in the tune were made!

Even better, this system maintains cooling efficiency as more power producing upgrades are added to your Porsche 997.2TT! It improves the effectiveness of your other power upgrades and only gets better the more horsepower you make!

sorry , but it's in reference to our 997.1 packages

We don't currently offer any turbo kits for the 997.2.

For comparison a real life pull (IMO dyno data for IC effiency is irrelevant...):

Start temp 38C = 100F.
End temp 56C = 133F.

^ Expect an in depth review/write-up of the CMS coolers shortly in a separate thread. They performed well and have some other great features.

This AMS package looks solid and the dyno results look promising -I like the extra mile they went by including the proper ducting with it. As Pete alluded to, I would love to see some comparative logs on the road or track but understand that can be difficult if its a customers car. It may help if you guys (AMS) labeled the x-axis on your IAT logs so we have a better idea of what's going on.

Nice work, good to see competition driving these platforms to better results.

I'm looking forward to your review! I just ordered a brand new set of CMS coolers this week and am anxiously waiting to see how they perform paired with my giac tune.

Great job on these AMS!

For the guys that may not have had much exposure to AMS hard parts in the past I'd like to mention that we've done a lot of tuning with their BMW N54 product line. The AMS BMW N54 cast intercooler end tanks and the cores used are still among the best on that platform.

The car made four consecutive 4th gear pulls and a 5th gear pull at the end. On the stock intercooler run, the car closed the throttle bodies and shut the run down on the 5th gear pull because the ECU detected temps were too high.

Note the cool down time between pulls was shorter with the Alpha Intercoolers vs the stock intercooler test, yet the Alpha Intercooler's maintained lower IAT's throughout. This test was done back to back the same day, same dyno and in the exact same conditions with two dyno fans blowing directly into the intercooler inlets. On the street, cooling efficiency will be increased due to an increase in airflow/velocity reaching the intercoolers.

Hello,

I'm a little confused on the Silicone hoses. The bigger ones, that have a smaller hose coming out from them, what is that? I don't recall seeing this on my hoses. Where does it plug or what's it for?
