I Found a Porsche I Want...Quick Acid Test Help

I found a Porsche I may want to pull the trigger on.

2007 Black Coupe
Black Interior
10,100 miles
2 Owner (1st owner for about 11 months ~5,000 miles)
Original MSRP of 124,290
Heated Front Seats
Black Full Leather
Black Mats
Fairly "Optionless"
Original Tires!!!! WHICH COMFORTS ME.
Paint is VERY clean 9/10
Interior is VERY clean 9/10
Carfax clean other than not taking care of the exhaust protective tube recall.
Maintenance History is tough to find/track down. Obviously the car wasnt driven much per year. only thing I can find is that the horn was replaced and oil filter change at Porsche Exchange in Illinois at 7,737 miles in May of 2009.

Any thoughts?

What should I pay....Kbb is 75,500....but this baby is clean...but lack of maintenance history worries me a bit.

$75K sounds about right, but with the low mileage I wouldn't be surprised if it sells for more, especially If it's a 6spd manual, if so jump on it!

My advice is to get a full PPI to confirm the condition is as you describe. If it checks out, especially given the low mileage, there really isn't much maintenance issues to be concerned about. I would simply get an oil / filter change, brake fluid flush, make sure tires have even wear and take it home!!

GL and post pics

Sounds like a nice car, but low mileage is not always best. Oil should have been changed annually, and with no maintenance record, I'd definitely want a PPI by an independent shop. As far as price, do some comps. Autotrader could be a place to start,
but 2007s seem to be common in the $60s. I don't think I would offer over $70, but that's just my opinion. There will probably be many more.

Please post all the links you have to 07 6spd manual 997TT's with under 15K miles priced in the $60s.

Autotrader has 54 listings nationally for 07-09 997TT with less than 15K miles. Cheapest one is $77K with 14K miles, and it's a Tiptronic.

Expand that search to 30K miles on the odometer and there are 134 listings. Guess how many under $70K? Just 1... And that's a Tiptronic with 24K miles. No comparison to the car the OP is looking at, which is a 6spd manual.

IMO if OP can get it for $75K +/- it's a good deal. 997.1TT 6spd manual coupes with low miles and in great condition are holding their values in this market.

GL to the OP

As I said, just my opinion. There is a difference between asking and selling prices. I've never paid asking price for a car.

I've been watching the market since march (and specifically the turbo market for the past couple of months as i'm looking to buy one).

The low mileage ones have been listed for a premium. I'd say both aa909 and kwikster are right in the ballpark. If i were personally making an offer on that car (don't worry...i'm not looking for black) i'd offer $68k and see what happens. Most likely you'd have to pay somewhere around low $70's (that's my guess). Higher mileage than that (say around 40k miles) have been selling for low $60's (i've kept in touch with a couple sellers and found out what they finally sold them for).

I personally wouldn't be as comforted by original tires. Since tires are generally only rated for 5-6 years before they start to develop cracking and dry rotting i would be concerned about what other things they didn't replace in a timely manner. It wouldn't be a deal breaker for me but in the absence of other maintenance records it would give me pause.

Like kwikster said low mileage isn't always best. Porsche recommends driving the car at least 6k miles a year.

Good luck and post pics if you get it!

Far enough but that's not what you said. You claimed "$60s were common place" for low mileage 997.1 TTs. Now you're changing your story. Standard distribution shows low mileage 10K-25K 07 997.TTs listed $77K-$82K. Just calling them like I see them. For your claim to be remotely true then these cars sell for $10K-$12K discounts to listing price, Which I highly doubt is "common" place.

In kwikster's defense a LOT of those cars listed in the high $70's have been sitting there for quite a while. You can list a car for whatever you want but it doesn't mean it'll sell for close to it.

I think you start to see a shift in the value once these cars exceed the 30k mileage range. In my personal experience, finding the right car that has a clean ownership and maint. history can be challenging depending upon how picky you are. Further, 6speed is a major plus for pre-PDK cars.

If you come in within the 70-75k range, I think you would have done more than well for a clean car with low mileage. The Turbo is alot of car for that money and well worth it.

Best of luck.

The OP asked for "any thoughts?" but random shots and misinformation are a plague to the Forum.

to OP : the original rubber seems to be the only issue. They've been sitting (unless protected by a garage) for seven years. I suggest you look carefully at the inner shoulder before any aggressive driving. Consider them as throwaways or plan to hoon them and then recycle them. They may carry the load but may lead to a failure on the road, and there is no spare.

Don't be afraid on miles on these cars, if its got perfect records and clean 40-50k even 60k should be no problem. Chances are all the kinks have been fixed with the higher mileage cars (clutch master cylinder / salve, updated shifter cables, battery etc). 6 speed 997 turbos are indeed holding very good % of their original price.

Sounds like a nice car that you will lose every dollar of the premium you paid for the low miles when you start driving it. Unless you plan to not drive it very much.

So true! What's your plan for the car? Driving it or garage queen?

Sounds like a good deal...I wouldn't worry too much about the service records...could have been a garage queen or might have got maintained at a friends shop...that's what I did and I didn't have service records...either way good luck with the sale
