Steering wheel Question for a Tip
So while I dont mind my shift buttons on the front of the wheel I was thinking why cant i put the buttons on the back? Has anyone tried this? I think I would need the Manual Multi function buttons and then need to figure out something with the back. But to me the Buttons would be very handy as you can shift with one hand. Hands should be between 9-3 and 7-2 so it would be close.

if anyone wants to manual multi function buttons I will give it a shot. I need to use the tip ones for the back and to fill in the space they leave.

It can be done on a 997.1tt USA spec car. I just did it with perfect results. Paddle wheel from a .2. Had to swap the module and had SST in CT program it. Best thing ever to get rid of those buttons.

Unfortunately I didn't take pictures of the process but it is pretty straightforward. there have been many posts on how to swap the wheel. You basically disconnect the battery after getting your wheel straight. remove the airbag by pushing a small screwdriver up through the hole under the wheel. disconnect the wiring and remove the bolt. wheel pops right off. then the fun part. remove the screws holding the upper and lower plastic around the column. you need to remove the clocking mechanism by unclipping and disconnect the yellow plug. You remove the small torx screw around the center of the shaft. You will know what screws to remove by looking at the new module (99761328901). now you have two choices. If your hands will fit you can manipulate the module back a bit and disconnect the plugs off of it or remove the stalks to get better access . You can remove the lower plastic but not the top. I managed to lower the Colum and work the module up and out. Then just pop the new one in and put all the plugs back on. Reinstall everything you removed and put the new wheel on. You will know you should be good if your horn honks and you have a psm fail. Then bring it to a piwis and recode for multifunction pdk. At least I believe that's what he did but it was straight forward from what he said. Then take it out realize you did the right thing.

The hardest part is the module but with calm attitude it 's not that bad. I just wanted to post that it can be done because every post I read left too many unanswered questions. I took a shot and it worked so at least anyone who was thinking about doing it can go for it.
