Dont mess around. Get the warranty. Fidelity has been very good to me. One bit of advice...always take the car to Porsche for big ticket items.
Im currently having the trans replaced.

Fidelity Warranty Lead
Highly recommend call to Christine Tackla at Circle Porsche in Long Beach, CA. I shopped all over for the best price and coverage for a Fidelity extended warranty and she beat everyone out there, plus no inspection! Rates based on model year and mileage. Her number is 562-597-3663 X1030. Doesn't matter if you are outside California, you can do paperwork via fax, email, etc. Tell her the Judge says hello!

The gears were grinding. Porsche doesnt do rebuilds, so they just recommend to replace it.

In the turbos, especially the modified ones, owners tend to go hard on the accelerator (par for the cause). This leads to the 5th and 6th gears, which are at the front of the transmission, i.e., closer to the front of the car) to starve for oil, which in turn causes them to fail.
A remedy is to change the transmission oil every 6 months or so (I change it when I change my engine oil - about every 6 months).

Interesting. This is the first I've heard this.

Just keep in mind, techs really don't care whether there is a tune on the car or not. They just want to get paid. Whether the payment comes from the customer or a warranty company is irrelevant to them.
