Need Additional Front End Downforce
#19
I believe I may be an idiot....jury is still out.
So....
The main interstate I travel twice a day both to and from work is under construction. Well, just before I replaced my lip, they began to resurface the asphalt. At first I didn't think anything of it. They began to grate the old asphalt to prepare for the new stuff the weekend before I installed the new lip.
For two weeks after that I put the new one on I noticed the change in handling. The road seemed smooth and mostly unaffected however, there were grooves now cut in to the surface in the direction of traffic.
It wasn't until I was on my way to the deal to get my OEM lip that I noticed a significant difference in the handling that I described in my first post.
This route was on two different interstates.
It felt like the car was "back to normal".
Once home, I installed the new lip and drove on another interstate and felt no difference.
So in the end....I believe it all had to do with the construction that I encountered on my daily commute.
Not sure if the grooves were causing turbulence or if there were very slight elevation changes that were mostly unnoticeable and caused it to feel floaty.
It's ok to point and laugh now.....

Freeway construction sucks in cars that are designed to be drivers cars, that you can feel every part of the road and all it's bumps and grades and such, it becomes more than a drive and becomes more like controlling a wild horse that doesn't want to go straight.
The only downside of sports cars I guess!
