997 Turbo 2010 PDK - LET THE MODS BEGIN!
#19
Ran at the 1/4 mile again, did better and managed consistent 10.7's at 130-131mph. Did 5 runs as it was really busy. 1st run was 10.8 seconds, I then ran near on 20psi all round (feared to go any lower as street tires / Cup Sports) and did 4 runs at 10.7, all getting slightly lower each time. 5 factors on the day:
1) Head Wind
2) Track not prepped as it was a festival, not a comp etc hence I was wheel spinning quite a lot despite 2 "warm up" launches
3) Was pretty hot waiting between runs so long plus loosing tire temp
4) It's slightly up hill
5) lol I've run out of excuses.
I think on a cooler day, with a better prepped track and no head wind 10.5 should be poss. As a comparison what kind of times are you guys getting across the pond and what is your spec? I know big variations but nice to know, I think I'm addicted. Another expensive hobby to add to drifting
This was me on one of my runs racing a Audi A4 British Touring Car, did a 10.70 @ 130.9 mph, you can see I'm still not getting solid launches despite my best efforts but I think track is slippery?
This is my buddy's Turbo Hayabusa, runs low 7's at near 200mph, makes the Beetle looks slow lol. I've always took the mick out of straight line racing but I can see the appeal now:
And my Bug sitting pretty before the journey home
Anyhow got some more events and goodies lined up over the next few months including some YouTube videos so will get on the case.
Cheers ML

Congrats, that is good considering the conditions. For reference when my car was similar to yours (tune and IPD plenum otherwise stock) in ok track conditions in SoCal (Famoso dragway) I did a couple 10.6X at 129.X- 130.X so results are consistent.

Thanks bud, what gearbox were you running? Would like some drag radials but a bit of a mission with center locks. Unless I fit some for the street and cruise round like a boss pretending I've got a 1500hp drag machine

It woke up after I installed GIAC stage 2 plus meth injection. Did a 10.2 @ 135.X on street tires on a 950 ft DA day. My 60-foot times were 1.6X so drag radials would really help us both out.

That is awesome Monkey London! I say add meth next but Dzenno from PTF is a wizard so whatever he suggests as next steps. Sticker tires would help a lot and get you a 10.5 maybe even a 10.4 I bet on its own. -Pete
